I don’t know anything much about makeup and I’ve never really paid attention to beauty products of any kind. Since starting my blog, I have come across so many beauty bloggers, or posts about beauty products, and I’m embarrassed to admit that it’s like reading a foreign language! I’m a girl, I’m supposed to know about this stuff right? My current skin care products have just run out, so at the age of 26, I think it’s finally time I took better care of myself!

Zombies - Juicy Alternative Entertainment!
For those of you who know me, you will understand my obsession with all things post-apocalyptic. I love any sort of film, book or even video game that details the gruesome struggle between the last of humanity and the hordes of walking dead. This weekend, our friend Steph attended the annual ‘Walker Stalker’ conference in London, and it’s all we’ve been able to talk about since! Steph is a great friend, so I knew I wouldn’t offend her by expressing my jealousy after every selfie she posted with cast members! In all honesty though, it’s definitely something we are considering attending next year, even pushing back our honeymoon so the two can coincide! In light of this, I wanted to share my love of the undead with my list of top 5 choices for zombie entertainment.

Treat Mum to a Lush Mother’s Day
I’m a little sad that Valentine’s is now over, but with Lush you never really wait long for some exciting new products! Mother’s Day is just around the corner (6th March this year) and, as usual, they have us sorted with a fantastic new range of goodies. Whether you’re looking for your mum, or you just fancy a little treat for yourself, why not pop along to your local store for a wee nosey?

Parenting Stories - The Great Trade-Off
After the success of my post discussing the problems of being a teen parent, and my recent collection of parenting experiences in academia, it got me thinking about the variety of difficulties other parents may face. Parenting, while an experience many have in common, can often bring with it a whole host of different challenges unique to each person. This new monthly segment - Parenting Stories - provides an insight into the lives of other Mums and Dads and the struggles they encounter while bringing up their children.
Thanks to Nikki from 'Young Mum Getting Rid of a Bum' for her help with the picture :) |

Deadpool, Lego and a ‘Round the World’ Food Experience
This Valentine’s weekend started with an early morning wake-up call and a train into Glasgow for 7.30am – Forbidden Planet were hosting an event to celebrate the release of the new Deadpool movie! They have arranged numerous signings and giveaway events in the past, so we are no stranger to queueing for a couple of hours, but today we were the first lonely people to appear outside the store. We were even around to welcome each member of staff for the start of their shifts!

Raising Children Whilst Working In Academia
Traditionally, academic research has been dominated by unmarried individuals with no direct dependents who rely on them. The long hours and unpredictable nature of the work often make sticking to a strict schedule very difficult. Combine that with the everyday stresses of raising children and you could potentially have a recipe for disaster!

Love Is In The Scottish Air
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we used this Saturday to escape into the Scottish Highlands for a visit with our wedding coordinator at our romantic wedding venue. Thankfully, my Mum took the kids for us, so we were able to spend some rare time with only each other for company. Although the rain poured the whole time we were away, it did nothing to spoil the scenery – I’ve always thought the Scottish countryside can make any weather seem beautiful! After finalising our wedding plans, we enjoyed a wander around the historic town of Dunkeld, before heading to Pitlochry for some lunch and a wee look round the shops.

Mini Weekend Box Review
I’m always stuck for ideas to entertain my kids, so when I heard about the Weekend Box Club, I jumped at the chance to give it a try! We work full time during the week, so are often busy when it finally gets to the weekend – organising kid friendly activities is usually the last thing on our mind as we struggle to cope with all the regular household chores. Founded by Andy Stephenson in 2013, Weekend Box is a fortnightly subscription box which arrives packed full of themed entertainment for your little ones. There are two sizes – mini (£4.95) and bumper (£7.50) – for this post, we had the pleasure of reviewing a rainforest themed mini box!
