I’ve been finding it difficult to de-stress recently – I’m just entering the final year of my PhD, along with planning a wedding and budgeting for every pound in my bank account - my enjoyment levels are definitely not where they should be! My family and friends have obviously been doing their best to calm the beast (for which I am very grateful), but I just thought I would share five little things which have been lifting my spirits of late:
1. Walkers’ Cheese, Cucumber and Salad Cream Crisps
One word – AMAZING! Paul thinks I’m crazy, but I absolutely love these crisps! As part of their new ‘Barmy for a Sarnie’ range, Walkers are currently producing a limited edition selection of flavours inspired by the classic British sandwiches we know and love. This particular flavour is definitely my favourite and tastes very similar to regular ‘Cheese and Chive’, but with a subtle hint of cucumber. Be brave and give it a go, I highly recommend it!
2. Elder Scrolls Online Xbox One Game
Bethesda have always had a special place in my heart with their Elder Scrolls series of games. For as long as I can remember, the games which have interested me the most have always involved quests, medieval sword fighting and magic – Elder Scrolls covers all this, with a special helping of dragon’s in their ‘Skyrim’ instalment. Despite how much I scream at the tv, and moan at Paul for abandoning me to the monsters, playing really does calm me down – honest!
3. Pringles ‘Snack Size’ Tubs
Few things remind me of the joys of the 90s, but these are definitely one of them! I remember being so envious of all my primary school friends, when they rocked up with brightly coloured Pringle tubs for their ‘play piece’, and I was stuck with a boring wee bit of fruit or a biscuit. When I noticed that Asda were running a promotion to get a free snack tub when buying any two full sized Pringle tubes, I jumped at the chance for childhood nostalgia!
4. Natural Collection Pressed Powder
Buying the best makeup can often be very expensive, and add to more unwanted stress when checking the bank balance. While I’m still a big fan of Clinique and their regular bonus time events, one of my ‘go to’ brands for keeping under budget has always been Natural Collection. I’m particularly loving their pressed powder in ‘neutral’ right now and at £1.99, you really can’t go wrong! Not only does it feel great on my skin, it also complements my pale complexion perfectly – I don’t leave home without wearing it!
5. The Sudden Appearance of Christmas Products… (and we’re only in September)!
Christmas always gets me excited, regardless of the time of year. When I noticed the emergence of the Galaxy white chocolate ‘gift for you’ in the seasonal aisle at our local Tesco, I immediately threw some in the trolley. The Christmas version of my favourite Easter treat - ‘Merryteaser’ – has also returned, along with a mince pie version of Mr Kipling’s Viennese Swirls – perfect for cheering up Paul with his flu! Megan has also been eyeing up her preferred advent calendars, with a £28 stationary filled one from Smiggle being top of her list. I’m hoping to one day share a whisky one with Paul, but that would probably set us back about £150… Maybe after the wedding!
Have any of you guys been stressed recently? What things have you been enjoying?

ReplyDeleteI don't think I could cope with shopping later in the year - I'm so little, busy shoppers tend to shove me about too much :(
