The Walking Dead – New Novel and Giveaway

Is anyone else as obsessed with The Walking Dead as I am? With the TV series returning to our screens on the 24th of this month, I’m sure a few of you are curious to see who survives! While you deal with the agonising wait, you may also be interested to learn that the next instalment of The Walking Dead book series – by Jay Bonansinga – is released in the UK today. Being an all over Walking Dead fan, I also love these novels and even managed to sneak the first of the series into our book club, much to Sarahjane’s dislike! When the lovely people at Pan Macmillan publishers got in touch and asked me to run a giveaway to celebrate the release, I jumped at the chance!

‘Search and Destroy’, the latest in the series, follows Lilly Caul, a character first introduced to us in book two. She’s been through a whirlwind of trouble since the start of the apocalypse, and it doesn’t appear that she’s off the hook yet. She now has the immense task of restoring the railroad between the city of Atlanta and the little town of Woodbury. As if this wasn’t enough, Woodbury is under attack, but not from walkers! In a world where the dead don’t stay ‘dead’ for long, Lilly will soon learn that it’s humans who she really has to watch out for…

If you’re already a fan of this series, you can find this latest release over at Amazon for £7.99. Perhaps you’re a fan of the graphic novels or TV show and are yet to discover the interesting back story these novels provide? Why not start from the beginning and discover the story of the infamous ‘Governor’ and how people like Lilly survive without the help of Rick and his buddies!

Pan Macmillan are offering five of my lucky readers the chance to win the complete set of Jay Bonansinga’s novels to date:

‘Rise of the Governor’
‘The Road to Woodbury’
‘The Fall of the Governor Part One’
‘The Fall of the Governor Part Two’
‘Descent’

And the newest release ‘Search and Destroy’

One of my favourite moments in the walking dead comics is how much Carl had changed from the inocent boy looking at the deer before he was shot to how the world is now where he can kill a boy who is not a walker because of the morality of his father

  11. Oh man trying to be one favourite moment is hard but I think anything that Carol does is just amazing. She has grown so much from season 1 and as much as I love the comics, the way she is handled in the show is so much better!

  19. So many to choose from-eek! x My favourite moments aren't the gore and the high excitement or the 'impending walkers' suspense but the 'human' ones, as it makes me really think about how easy it is to change under great duress-and how hard it is to stay true to your core values and keep your compassion in the darkest of times. My most memorable moment is still when Rick *had* to shoot, the now dead and 'walking', Sophia all the way back in S2. I howled when I watched it-literally sobbed-but it made me think deeply about the difficult nature of so many decisions they (especially Rick as de facto leader of their group)had to make and I knew how much it was going to change Carol (she's one of my faves). I have read 'Rise of the Governor' in this series of novels and loved all the back story. In another lifetime, I'd have been a psychologist, I think-or a zombie killer!

    1. We recently rewatched that scene in series 2... brutal! I'm exactly the same when it comes to favourite moments - like you say, it's the human Ines that really make this show fantastic! :)
