Saturday in the City with Social and Cocktail

Who doesn’t love a good cocktail?! When I opened my inbox, just before New Year, to find an invite to an evening of ‘cocktails and cabaret’ in Glasgow’s city centre, I just couldn’t resist! Social and Cocktail, a mobile drinks company who specialise in cocktail making master classes, teamed up with The Riding Room, in Glasgow, and invited a bunch of lovely bloggers along to sample their cocktails and enjoy a snippet of the regular entertainment on offer – how could I turn this down?!

I dragged Sarahjane along with me, and also managed to catch up with Kris, who I’d first met at the Revolución de Cuba event last month. Eager to show off their new menu, Social and Cocktail treated us all with unlimited refills of their five new cocktails:

Blueberry Sour
Disco Drumstick
Strawberry and Vanilla Daiquiri
Pomegranate Mojito
Strawberry Woo Woo

I attempted to get through them all, but by the time I got to the Pomegranate Mojito, I was already finding it difficult to string sentences together, so thought it best to miss out the Strawberry Woo Woo before I got worse, haha! All the other cocktails on the menu were absolutely fantastic, but my favourite was the Strawberry and Vanilla Daiquiri, which was deliciously creamy, while still maintaining its fruity strawberry flavour. The other cocktails were also amazing, especially the Disco Drumstick, complete with large drumstick lolly which became my challenge of the evening to eat! Perhaps the only cocktail I didn’t enjoy so much was the Pomegranate Mojito, but only because it had bits in it – anyone who knows me, knows this is something I don’t handle well!

Once our thirst was suitably quenched, we settled down for the entertainment of the evening – first up was Alana Wilson. She had an amazingly powerful voice and performed a mix of classic cabaret along with some more modern favourites. I thoroughly enjoyed her set list and would love to see her perform again at some point.

Next up were a duo of burlesque dancers – Kim Khaos and Tom Harlow. I’d never been to a burlesque show before, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I was blown away by how amazing their dancing was! Kim wowed the audience with her sassy attitude and Tom showed us all his ‘boylesque’ routine – which was definitely and eye opener! They were both moving quite quickly, so my pictures don't do them justice, but I’m already looking up The Riding Room’s schedule over the next month to see if I can catch another of their shows!

Overall, we had a fantastic time – not only did I discover another bar that I like, but I also know exactly who to call for all my cocktail needs. I’m really grateful that Social and Cocktail sent me the invite, I just wish I could convince everyone to book me another hen party, as their pop up bar would be the perfect addition!
