Friends are very important to me, but we don’t usually have the time to see each other as much as we’d like. To help keep in touch, I love to organise get-togethers at my house, which often involve a variety of party games and more food than we can ever eat! When I heard the creators of Randomise were looking for bloggers to review their new party game, I saw this as a perfect addition to one of these evenings!
The rules are simple enough – split in to two teams, choose a difficulty level (easy or hard) and ‘describe, act or draw your way to victory’! There are three piles of cards (A, B and C) and the player must choose a card from each of these piles to provide themselves with a mystery identity. Card A describes you (e.g. furry, happy, sleepy), card B says what you are (e.g. horse, penguin, monkey) and card C lists an activity (e.g. swimming, jumping, skating). The aim is to get your team members to guess your full identity - by either describing, acting or drawing - before the other team have a chance to steal the points. My attempt to act as a ‘gorgeous caveman who was juggling’ caused much confusion within my team! Think of the game as a mash up between Charades, Taboo and Pictionary, only more difficult due to the random nature of the thing you are describing!
After playing a round on the ‘easy’ difficulty setting, we decided to step it up a notch and try out the hard identities – definitely something not to be attempted if already drunk or playing with children! While our ‘quick witch roller skating’ or our ‘hot penguin lighting a match’ were easily guessed, we were then faced with hard identities such as an ‘imaginary iguana playing poker’ or a ‘dusty phoenix building a house’! The opposing team triumphantly landed a victory after successfully drawing an ‘adorable ladybird relaxing in a hammock’ (see picture)!
After initially thinking that the first team to thirty points would take a while, the whole game lasted no longer than an hour – perfect for keeping both children and adults entertained. The small box and limited requirements for playing mean that Randomise can be easily transported to any location – pub, holiday or party nights with friends! We suggested using dice as an easier way to select numbers for the identities, but other than that we were pretty impressed with the whole idea of the game. Out of the eight people playing, six would go out and buy it, either for themselves or as a gift.
If you are curious about the creation of this little gem of a game, or would just like a bit more information, check out the website here. Randomise is available to buy from Amazon at a price of £9.99 – great value for the hours of fun it can provide!
If you’ve tried this game, I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below, we couldn’t stop laughing at some of our combinations!
Sounds like an interesting game although I'm never that good at things like this x

DeleteOoh this sounds fun. I don't think I'd be any good haha.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, well worth picking up - just don't attempt the hard identities unless you are feeling brave! :)
